Founded in 1999, SMR (UK) has become the leading technology with which to stabilise excavated spoil, cost effectively transforming it into high quality products that outperform traditional materials such as Type1 GSB, with material being re-used on existing construction projects negating the need to send waste to landfill.
In August 2012 having outgrown its original manufacturing facility in Devon, SMR relocated its headquarters and highly automated manufacturing facility to larger premises close to the Severn Bridge in Caldicot, Monmouthshire Wales.
Waste management compliance, landfill diversion and the reduction of carbon footprint are some of the main issues facing companies in the construction industry today. SMR is a leading and proven technology that assists companies in achieving all of these challenging targets.
In November 2015 Clare Stevens took over day-to-day management of the business as Managing Director and has since successfully implemented an active and ambitious development programme. This has included:
- Bringing on board additional expertise by recruiting the likes of Andy Bareham as the new Technical Support Manager
- Actively expanding the national HUB dealer network
- Raising the profile of SMR amongst Tier-1 and Tier-2 civil engineering businesses
