EX SITU

For large open projects where there is an ongoing requirement for soil stabilisation or sub-base material in large quantities and there is space enough for the stock piling of spoil material onsite, an Ex-situ set up offers flexibility as well as financial advantages.

A mobile screener with additional mixing capabilities is set up onsite and the excavated material to be treated with the SMR additive can be stock piled until needed, ensuring that enough treated material will be available as and when required.

The first phase is a course screening where all material fractions that are larger than 40mm are removed along with all organic material, following which, the basic sub-soil is loosened up. The soil is then weighed and blended with the desired percentage of the SMR additive, between 1-10%, dictated by the particular application and the base material moisture content.

The SMR treated material is then stock piled where, over a period of 24 to 48 hours, it can be used in volume when and where required on the project. This excellent construction material is especially suitable for use in road construction and civil engineering, channel construction, for utility reinstatements as well stabilising waterlogged or contaminated land.

Bulk materials: The Ex-situ process conveniently delivers large regular tonnages of recycled sub base materials on site, as required, on a constant and ongoing basis.

Financial Savings: By undertaking all the sub-base stabilisation using onsite material and adding SMR stabilisation material, massive financial savings are made, for significantly less than if traditional methods had been used to achieve the same result.

Significant reduction in vehicle movements: By eliminating the requirement to send existing material to landfill and replace it with new imported aggregate, vehicle movements can be avoided.

Project delivered in a timely way: By opting for the SMR Ex-situ methodology projects are completed in a fraction of the time that would have been needed had traditional extract and replace methods had been used.

Zero material to landfill: Not only are transportation costs removed from any project, materials to landfill are reduced to zero as are landfill taxes and the cost of purchasing and transporting new materials to site.
