In a bid to give back to the community and contribute to a cleaner environment, SMR UK organised a litter pick yesterday around Hendy Park and Coed Bach. The team borrowed equipment from Pontarddulais Library, a Litter Picking Hub listed on Caru Cymru / Keep Wales Tidy, which provides free access to litter pickers, hi-vis vests, rubbish bags, and hoops.

With over 200 Litter Picking Hubs available across Wales, these hubs offer all the necessary tools to carry out safe and efficient clean-ups. This initiative aligns with our company’s commitment to sustainability and community involvement.

“It was a lovely sunny day, perfect for stepping out of the office and doing something positive for our local parks,” said Menna Watkins, Sales and Marketing Analyst at SMR UK.

“Not only did we contribute to keeping our environment clean, but we also enjoyed the physical activity and the mental break, which significantly boosted our productivity and mood. It was also a great chance to take Izzy, our office dog, out for a walk and let her run around, which she absolutely loved.”

The success of this event has inspired us to consider making litter picking a regular activity, potentially on a monthly or bi-weekly basis. This will be possible thanks to the efficiency and support provided by the Keep Wales Tidy scheme.

We urge other companies to implement similar initiatives. It’s an excellent way to foster team spirit, improve mental well-being, and make a tangible impact on the community.
